Driving directions from Lihue Airport:

Drive north on Hwy 51, it will merge into Hwy 56.

After mile marker 5, get into left lane and cross Wailua River Bridge

Turn left onto Hwy 580 (Kuamoo Road) and go 2 1/2 miles inland

Turn right onto Hwy 581 (Kamalu Road) at Wailua Country Store

Take second left onto Opae'ka'a Road. Go 1/4 mile

Take first right onto Pu'uOpae Road. Go 1/4 mile to the first stop sign at the "T" junction

Turn left onto Kalama Road. Go 1/4 mile to 6448 Kalama Road on the right. Enter driveway on right and park on grass (guest parking sign)

The Hale Melemanu Garden Cottage is the free standing cottage in front. The Artist's Apartment is through the marked gate and down the steps to the lanai below. The door will be open and keys on the kitchen table of each unit.
